Oh, The Temple Is A Holy Place Of Pain And Suffering

Hello again everyone!

This week has been truly incredible, as I am finally in the MTC- Provo! No more terrible zoom calls and random mic problems for me, which is truly a blessing. But, Wednesday did mean having to say goodbye to those I love, which is the hardest thing I have ever done. I miss all of you already, but I know that I will see you again in just a little bit. And so, without further ado, let's get into the week of Elder McMullin!

The first day was really cool, as I finally got my mission phone! They were stacked 20+ high in the entrance like some sort of drug dealer, fresh from the factory. Then, we had a devotional by a member who had an incredibly difficult life and a quadrapeligic bear their testimony. Then, it was the first night with the district! They are a really fun bunch, but really seem to enjoy late night philosophical questions and smuggling in caffeine through any means. After that, classes resumed in person, and the teachers are really nice. We have practiced the classic lessons (Restoration, Plan of Salvation, trying to implement Chapter 14) as well as getting real good with using the scriptures as a devil-smacking weapon. The highlight, and lowlight, of the whole week was going to the temple. about 100+ missionaries piled into the moist-est bus of our lives to drive down to good old Timpanogos temple! The first time was itiatories and baptisms. As the title supposes, baptisms and intiatories did not go very well. While I was shuffling into the font, I absolutely destroyed my foot on the leg of a bench, kicking it with such accidental gusto I almost cried. The single layer sock I had on did not help a whole lot. It was still hurting the day after, so I got it checked by the MTC doctor (I think his name was Brown), who swiftly sent me to the frickin Student health center at BYU for an X-ray. After using some popsicle sticks in unconventional ways and absorbing some hot radiation, I am the proud owner of a perfectly normal photo of my toe bones, no breaks and no problems. The endowment went markedly better.

Before I go, I would just like to bear my testimony of the Book of Mormon. We have had the awesome experience of inviting people to read it in our practice lessons, and I am here to testify that the Book of Mormon has true power. I love each and every page, and I know that it is a book from Divine sources, written by loving prophets, and is here for our use today. If you haven't cracked it open in a while, I invite you to do so and feel the wonder that comes from that book.

With all my fingers and toes attached,

Elder McMullin
