The Virtual MTC Is A Moneymaking Scam
Hello once again everyone!
I really hope y'all are on the email list by now, because I will no longer be editing it. But, I hope y'all are also doing well! Please feel free to email me anything you are up to, recipes for me to try, spam mail from insurance companies, or letters full of virtual anthrax. I'll take anything. But, without further ado, here's the wonderful week of Elder McMullin!
The week has been pretty boring, as the virtual MTC is... virtual. While a good Zoom call every once in a while is fine, the VMTC runs seven hours of Zoom a day, six days a week. While it did help begin the spiritual journey, it was not a pleasant way to do so. As the header implies, I truly believe it still exists as a way to boost the physical MTC's popularity by giving the missionaries a worse version of it. However, we did cover a LOT of ground this week, teaching the restoration of the gospel, how to answer questions, and show support when people fall short on commitments. We even did some roleplaying, which I am happy to say I got to play a Friend named John! I may have gone a bit out of control though, as John now canonically owns two cats named Sarah and Leviah, gardens tomatoes, and ran away from his Baptist family at 20. Oh well. The highlight of the week has to be teaching our first Friend solo! The MTC has a program to test out missionaries against members pretending to be Friends so we can practice lessons, and my companion and I had our first meeting this week! We answered his questions about what made our church different, and his review said it was a success, but Elder Seiter and I got nervous and gave far too much information about the restoration (we may or may not have covered six Angelic visits in about three minutes). But overall, it was a fantastic week full of new missionary memories and lots of "you're on mute".
A message that really stuck out to me this week was that of listening. We practiced it in one of our many meetings, and listening with intent really does change our interactions with each other. I was willing to open up to my partner (Elder Yorke) about some deep emotions, and we really bonded over it. So, I would challenge all of you out there reading this to take some time to listen to someone a little better- it could change your relationship forever!
Anyways, keep on keepin' on,
Elder McMullin
For this week's photos, I really didn't go anywhere, so please enjoy some of my favorite views from online MTC!
1: My companion's adorable doggo.
2: Someone in my district had this corner in their room, which perfectly matches up with a computer cursor. Try it and thank me later.
3: This trash can has not moved in the MTC for 6 days. Someone needs to check out their housekeeping.
4: Full district photo!
5: Another district member was permanently Zooming against this color of green. It was a bold move and I'm here for it.
6: Sneaky picture of Jesus in my companion's house.
