Sugar, Butter, Some Toe Jam, And Cinnamon Make A Lovely Lil Snack
Well howdy again everyone! Coming live from the recently shut down shipyards of Virginia, it's Elder McMullin! As always, feel free to send me juicy conference memes or stolen license plates, and I will get to them eventually. But, without further ado, here we go!
This week has been an abomination for work. Monday was Pday, Tuesday was district council (but I had to drive everyone there and back, adding a couple of hours), Wednesday was admittedly normal, Thursday was exchanges, Friday we had to fill up a font, and the weekend was conference. All in all, the KIs took an ugly hit as finding and grinding time was at an all-time low. However, we still snaked in 6 new people, 5 Sacrament attendance, and 4 lessons with members! In other news, Dewayne's baptism should (emphasis on should) be this Saturday, but I'm a little wary rn.
In other news, conference! We listened to the Saturday sessions on our eclectic assembly of random apartment furniture, which was fun. I really liked Elder Kearons talk about a church of Joy. Then, I went finding in an IKEA, (which was a strange experience) while Elder Mills desperately called people to find them. Sunday was more fun, as we went to a members house and she fed us all day. Elder Holland and President Nelson were just so darn good. To keep myself awake, I did more temple sketches, and managed to finish the annoyingly difficult Provo City Center and the Richmond Temple.
To explain the header, I was grossly disheartened by the fact that we had no baked goods for conference. For years they were one of the highlights, a glowing pillar of fire to guide the weekend. Then, divine inspiration smacked me and said "just find a recipe online". One quick Facebook search later, and we were making cinnamon rolls! The process was certainly exciting, though. We did not use enough flour initially, so I wound up trying to knead what felt like a water balloon. Then we finally got that figured out, only to drop our dough baby on the floor. After picking out some extra flavoring, we went to rolling and baking, which went off without a hitch. Then, I made some suspicious icing out of clumpy powdered sugar that looked suspiciously like cocaine and some aged vanilla in our cupboard. Despite this GBBO-style adventure into pastry, they actually tasted pretty dang good.
Anyways, I hope yall found some inspiration from conference to use in this next week, and I wish you all the best!
