Saints On A Plane

Image
Hello again everyone! This week has been every flavor of wild, and I can finally say that I am now OFFICIALLY IN THE FIELD! Not a literal field though, as I have been assigned to the Newtown area, a bustling metropolis with a whole 2 skyscrapers and entirely brick sidewalks that I have tripped on more often than not. So, without further ado, here's the week of Elder McMullin! It all got started at the glorious hour of 3:30 Am on Wednesday for the flight out, meaning a midnight walk through the MTC and a stanky bus ride to Salt lake City. Then, we boarded our flight to Minneapolis (strange layover) while the rest of my MTC friends bragged about all the apostles they were seeing around the MTC. But hey, THEY didn't get a delayed flight in an airport where most of the drop ceiling is missing. Once in Richmond, we had a BBQ and met the President, a little firebrand politician who gives major 'murica vibes. These vibes became real with our intro lesson, which can be summed up wi...

The Virtual MTC Is A Moneymaking Scam

Image
Hello once again everyone!       I really hope y'all are on the email list by now, because I will no longer be editing it. But, I hope y'all are also doing well! Please feel free to email me anything you are up to, recipes for me to try, spam mail from insurance companies, or letters full of virtual anthrax. I'll take anything. But, without further ado, here's the wonderful week of Elder  McMullin !      The week has been pretty boring, as the virtual MTC is... virtual. While a good Zoom call every once in a while is fine, the VMTC runs seven hours of Zoom a day, six days a week. While it did help begin the spiritual journey, it was not a pleasant way to do so. As the header implies, I truly believe it still exists as a way to boost the physical MTC's popularity by giving the missionaries a worse version of it. However, we did cover a LOT of ground this week, teaching the restoration of the gospel, how to answer questions, and show support when pe...

Call The AA As Fast As Possible

Hello again everyone! This is Elder  McMullin  reporting again, here to tell you about the wild, zany, and completely forgettable experiences here at the MTC! If any of you have questions, comments, concerns, or insults, be sure to email me and I will probably deal with it! So, without further ado, here's my week! Laundry here is a scam. They say that it is free, but detergent costs a dollar per wash, and the register only takes quarters. Unfortunately for me, the only bill I could break was a $10, meaning I was the proud new owner of 40 quarters that I promptly lost. On the spiritual side, we got our first (and last- Statesides are not here for long) MTC devotional, with YW president Emily Bell Freeman! She gave a beautiful talk about how we should destroy our scriptures, going through every page marking the living daylights out of it. Seeing as I am using my Quad from my baptism filled with bad drawings of prophets and random highlights, I would say I'm halfway the...

Oh, The Temple Is A Holy Place Of Pain And Suffering

Image
Hello again everyone!     This week has been truly incredible, as I am finally in the MTC- Provo! No more terrible zoom calls and random mic problems for me, which is truly a blessing. But, Wednesday did mean having to say goodbye to those I love, which is the hardest thing I have ever done. I miss all of you already, but I know that I will see you again in just a little bit. And so, without further ado, let's get into the week of Elder  McMullin !     The first day was really cool, as I finally got my mission phone! They were stacked 20+ high in the entrance like some sort of drug dealer, fresh from the factory. Then, we had a devotional by a member who had an incredibly difficult life and a quadrapeligic bear their testimony. Then, it was the first night with the district! They are a really fun bunch, but really seem to enjoy late night philosophical questions and smuggling in caffeine through any means. After that, classes resumed in person, an...
